Bidvest Bank Limited is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Bidvest Group Limited, an international trading and services JSE-listed company that operates on three continents.

The Bidvest Group bought Rennies Foreign Exchange in 1998 as part of the Rennies Group acquisition and has held a full banking license since June 2000. In July 2007 The Bidvest Group announced the name change of its specialist banking business, Rennies Bank Limited, to Bidvest Bank Limited.

Bidvest Bank leverages the strengths of two of South Africa’s leading brands – The Bidvest Group and Rennies Foreign Exchange.

Today Rennies Foreign Exchange is the retail foreign exchange division of Bidvest Bank and has further strengthened its position as the country’s leading specialist provider of travel foreign exchange and related services. Through the Bidvest Bank/Rennies Foreign Exchange retail branch network of over 90 branches nationwide, Bidvest Bank is the leading seller of travellers cheques and foreign bank notes in South Africa. Bidvest Bank also offers a range of innovative pre-paid currency cards that have been designed to fit in with travellers’ unique travel needs, all supported by the international Visa network.

With South Africa’s complex foreign exchange regulations, moving money abroad requires expert knowledge and understanding. In addition to providing travel foreign exchange products to both the business and leisure traveller, Bidvest Bank offers a comprehensive range of foreign exchange solutions to corporates that engage in foreign exchange activity.

Bidvest Bank has been involved in foreign exchange in Southern Africa for over 150 years and focuses on all major currencies through a correspondent global network. Solutions include import/export foreign exchange, spot and forward cover contracts, trade services, foreign money transfers and exchange control services. The bank’s dealing room also provides efficient and effective solutions to meet the needs of businesses.

Bidvest Bank’s diverse range of products and services for both the travel and corporate foreign exchange markets underpins its brand position as ‘The Foreign Exchange Specialists’.

Bidvest Bank has also repositioned itself by providing the personal and corporate markets with a broader range of banking products and services. The bank offers an attractive range of retail banking investment products (call, notice and fixed deposits) as well as a personal savings account – all at competitive interest rates.
Financial assistance is available on application to businesses in South Africa that require both short and medium term funding. This assistance is provided in the form of working capital loans, trade loans, general banking facilities as well as asset-based finance. For importers or exporters Bidvest Bank provides the necessary instruments to facilitate foreign trade. Whether it is capital goods, machinery or other products, trade finance helps importers and exporters to facilitate their business dealings.
